Ernest J. Miller, FSC, D.Min., M.A., serves as the Director for The Adrien Nyel Project, most recently serving as Vice President of Mission, Diversity & Inclusion at La Salle University. In his role as the founding Director, Brother Ernest will assess the formative needs of the Lasallian educator, creating programs and curriculums centered on the vocation of the teacher with renewed commitment to the formation and accompaniment of young teachers. In his time as Vice President at La Salle University, and Assistant Director in the District’s Office for Mission & Ministry, Br. Ernest has worked to revise or implement new mission-focused initiatives for faculty, staff and administrators, to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the Lasallian charism and mission. Brother Ernest has worked with educators and students alike, inside and outside the classroom, to grasp the long arc of the Lasallian story. Brother Ernest is a member of the Institute of the Brother of the Christian Schools, the largest Roman Catholic religious institute dedicated to the education of young people, especially the poor and marginalized. He joined the Brothers in 1993, in Philadelphia, to begin his initial formation. In 1998, he made his first profession of vows, and in 2003, he made his final profession of vows. He served three years (2009-2012) as the Associate Director for Mission and Ministry in the District of Eastern North America (DENA), the geographic area for all the Brothers’ communities and Lasallian ministries in seven states, Washington, DC, Ontario, Canada, and Jamaica. Before the creation of DENA in 2009, he served two years (2007-2009) as Director of Education and Lasallian Mission Formation in the former District of Baltimore which encompassed the Lasallian educational ministries in the Mid-Atlantic region. Brother Ernest completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He was graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a B.A. in Political Science; The Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University with a M.A. in International Affairs; La Salle University with a M.A. in Education; and Georgetown University with a Master in Liberal Studies.
